About the Author

Welcome to a blog about seismic exploration. Those of us working in the industry have many stories to tell. I want to present an opportunity here for you, the reader, to share those stories; as I share mine.

I have been in the oil industry for over 30 years; doing Seismic Exploration for both contractors and major oil companies alike. I have been a consultant in the industry for over 20 years. I have experience in land (desert, mountains, …), marine deep water and OBC, marsh, transition zone, etc.

I am a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), and the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) as well as some of the local chapters. As a consultant staying on top of technology is important and involvement with these organizations and their respective conventions offer what is needed to keep my skills polished.

This isn’t just about me though. I want to hear from everyone involved. Tell us the project you’re working on. Tell us the companies involved. Tell as much as possible without, of course, divulging any proprietary secrets. There are many good ideas and stories out there that may improve things for future jobs. Comment about them.

I hope this blog will lead to a Wiki of types where all parties can get together to share adventures of all things seismic. Let’s include land, marine, and all things in between. Did you know there was even some seismic acquisition done on the moon? Does anyone have some information about that?

Let’s start with some comments and this site will move forward from there. We have great plans, let’s hear from all of you.
